If your first birthday party guests will include toddlers, remember that toddlers will probably not cooperate for very long when it comes to organized games and activities.
For a one hour 1st birthday party you might want to plan 4 to 5 short games, plus activities the parents can do with their children.

Get a bright colored ball and have your guests (adults and children) sit on the floor in a circle. Roll the ball across the floor from one player to the next. Being sure to let your little guests get their hands on the ball as often as possible. This is a popular 1st birthday party game. Follow The Leader
Instead of a follow the leader parade, gather your party guests in a circle. Choose a leader (an adult). Start your theme music and have everyone follow the leader. The leader can raise both hands and everyone follows. The leader can raise one arm and everyone follows. The leader can sit down and everyone follows. The leader can turn around and everyone follows. A fun first birthday party game for everyone.
Fun Balloon Bounce
Using a Mylar balloon(there is less chance they will pop and frighten your little ones) have everyone sit in a circle and hit the balloon across the circle using only their hands. Be sure to play your theme music to get everyone in the right mood. Bean Bag Drop
Get some small bean bags (you can also use clothespins)and colorful buckets or decorated jars. Have the adults help their child hold the bean bag or clothespin over the bucket and try to drop them into the container. When your child gets one into the container, encourage them by cheering them on. Pin The Nose On?
Get a picture to match your party theme (a clown, Pooh Bear, a Flower, or ?) and have your guests pin the nose on the clown, or pin the honey pot near Pooh Bear or pin center dot on the flower.
*A Tip From Grandma Mary
Instead of actually using a pin to hold the object to the picture, use double sided tape or fold a small loop of the tape inside-out so it will stick to your picture. And don't forget to put the child's name on the object so you'll know who was closest.
