Decoration Your Construction Zone

When your guests first arrive, you want them to get excited and feel like their in a fun "birthday party construction zone."

Make "construction zone" signs to put on your mail box, porch, front door and around your party location.

  • "Men At Work"
  • "Caution - Equipment Ahead"
  • "Truck Crossing"
  • "Safety First"
  • "Power Tools In Use"
  • "Construction Foreman (name of birthday child)"

  • Balloon Decorations

Make sure your "birthday construction zone" includes fun party balloons and colorful streamers. Use construction colors like orange, black and yellow.

    Fun Games And Activities

Your party will be a big success if you get everyone involved in having fun as soon as they arrive.

Two easy and fun ways to do that is with a "Guess How Many" game and a construction activity.

    Guess How Many

Get a small toy dump truck and fill the truck with Jelly Beans. As each child arrives, have them guess how many Jelly Beans are in the truck.

Remember to have a piece of paper with each child's name and a pencil next to the truck. Have the child write down their guess next to their name.

At the end of the party, the child with the closest guess wins the Jelly Beans - and the truck!Make sure you write down how many Jelly Beans are in the truck so you'll remember when it's time to announce the winner).

    Construction Foreman Sez

Here's your birthday child's turn to be in charge of the construction crew.

Instead of Simon Sez, play "Construction Foreman Sez."

If your child says "Construction Foreman Sez take one step forward" everyone takes a step forward. BUT if your child just says "take one step forward" anyone that takes a step is out.

Keep playing until you only have one player left - and they win the game.

  • Dump Truck Dip - Serve dip from a (clean) dump truck
  • Nail Heads - Pez Candy
  • Pile O' Dirt - Ground up Oreo Cookies

    Construct Your Invitations

    Here's a super fun idea

Have someone dress up as a construction worker and have them hand deliver your party invitations. Wow.

Imagine how surprised all your invited guests will be when there's a knock on their door and when the door opens, a "construction worker" gives them their party invitation.

Have your construction worker say this:

"Are you my construction friend?" "Well I'm here because we need your help building a super fun construction birthday party for (first and last name of your birthday child)."

"(first name of your birthday child) is turning (age) and we're celebrating with a fun construction party on (day and date of your party)." "We get started at (time your party begins), so don't be late."

"We can't build our party without you, so take a look at these construction plans (hand them a paper that shows the construction of a birthday cake - make it look like a blue print)"

"Now after you look over those construction plans, make sure you call our "Construction Foreman" to let them know you'll be helping us have fun on this special construction job."

(If you're doing a Bob the Builder party, you can have your delivery person dress up like Bob and you can have them say it's a "Bob the Builder" party).

Then make sure you hand your invited guest a printed invitation that includes all the important information.

    Outdoor Construction fun

Does your child's birthday happen when the weathers nice?

Then you can take your party outside where everyone can have fun playing in the dirt or "constructing" something.

Your child will really have fun if they get to build or put something together as an activity.

    Have FUN
