Food Fight Birthday Party
My son had such a great food fight party for his 6th birthday, that we are repeating it again on Thursday for his 10th.
After the first party, all the others paled in comparison and kids were always asking for the food fight party again! So back by popular demand.... here we go again!
What we did was to purchase two relatively cheap "event tents", the type with poles and a shaded cover, but open on the sides. We placed them about 20 feet apart, and completely enclosed the entire thing is sheet plastic from home depot.
We laid plastic on the floor as well. My husband cut a few holes in the sides of the "battle arena" for parental viewing.
When kids arrived they were assigned either to the orange team or the blue team. Team members wore orange or blue goggles I purchased from the dollar store.
The teams spent some time together making "egg grenades" and mixing their team color into mashed potatoes, and water bottles. The water bottles with the pop-tops work great as "battle guns" and a drop of food coloring can tint the water to match the team.
Wherever possible we tried to make the food either blue or orange, to represent the team colors. We went over the rules, safety precautions, etc, and then let the battle begin.
You can usually tell who's "winning" by how much of the colored food the kids are wearing.
In the end, no one really cares about who won.
The fun is in the battle.
Afterward we hosed them off and let them jump in the pool (temp. permitting). We explain everything they need to know in the invitation, so children know to wear an old bathing suit, bring a towel - etc.
Note From Grandpa Mike
Wow!
You really did it - you put together an original, fun-filled "food fight" birthday party.
I loved the idea of color coded teams, complete with color coded food. And the rules and safety were excellent.
Your party pictures must be lots of fun.
Have FUN
