Wizard of Oz Birthday Cake
by Fairen

I really want to make my daughter a neat cake for her fourth birthday, however all of the examples online are way to elaborate.
I don't know how to work with fondant and things, nor do I have the cash right now.
I need a simple idea for a cool cake, hopefully incorporating the yellow brick road, rainbow, and ruby slippers...Thanks!

Fairen:
Here's an idea that will be very inexpensive, but give you a terrific and creative Wizard of Oz birthday cake your child will love.
First, you can pick up a ready made cake with white frosting at the supermarket. If you want, you can have them write "Happy Birthday (child's name).
Then, get some yellow frosting. Create a "yellow brick road" with some frosting that goes across the cake to a "rainbow."
I found this Rainbow Sugar Shape that's colorful and delicious too!
Now, get a doll's high heel shoes and "paint" them read using nail polish, and place the Ruby Slippers at the end of the Yellow Brick Road and under the rainbow.
Here's a Candy-Filled Ruby Slipper
you can place on top of your cake too.
Your Wizard of Oz birthday cake will look wonderful and it won't cost much at all.
I hope your daughter has a wonderful 4th birthday.
Have FUN
