Use a white crayon to write your invitation on white paper. When you send out your invitations, include a black crayon with instructions for your invited guests to "rub the black crayon across the white paper to watch their invitation magically appear right before their eyes.

You can also write your invitation on parchment paper to give it an official look.

Remember to include the first and last name of your birthday child, the address of your party location and the start time and end time of your birthday party.

It's also a good idea to ask them to RSVP buy a certain date. And don't forget to mention if food will be served or if costumes can be worn.

Magical Games and Activities

Be creative, most any party game can be changed to match your birthday theme.

Remember the "Pin The Tail On The Donkey" game?

Draw and color a large picture of Harry Potter (or any character) on white butcher paper. Make "black eyeglasses" or some other part of the character.

Blindfold each guest and see who pins the object the closest.

How about playing the "Hokey Pokey," but you can call your the Hermione Giggle!

"Musical Chairs" becomes the Moaning Myrtle Dance.

How about Transfiguration?

Let your guests act out the characters by playing Charades. They can even act out being transformed into something like a frog, or a book, or a dragon.

Hogwart School Test

Before your party, put together the alphabet. Down the left side of the paper, put one letter on each line (A, B, C, D, until all 26 letters are listed. make copies of your list and give each guest one copy, a pencil and ten to fifteen minutes to fill in the blanks.

The object is to list something from the Harry Potter stories for each letter of the alphabet.

Potter-Mon-Ingo

Make up Bingo cards using Harry Potter characters (pictures for little kids, written names for older kids). Make sure all the Bingo cards are different or everyone will be winners. Kids like this game.

Golden-Snitch-Seek

Put together teams and let them find clues hidden around the house that will bring them to their treasure (loot bags, small toys or game cards).

The clues should be different for each team or they'll be all over each other.

Clues should be simple. For instance, "back of chair" (could be any chair in the house) and when they find the right chair, there is another clue, such as "under table".

A list should contain four to eight clues and the team must stay together while they search.

The winner will find the Golden Snitch first. (Use a gold covered chocolate coin).
