Fun Homemade Birthday Party Ideas

You'll SAVE lots of money with a homemade party

Homemade birthday party ideas that will help you put together a fun birthday party your child will love.

Homemade Birthday Party Ideas

Think about it

Even if your birthday child wants a special party theme, you can still do all of this - homemade.

  • Invitations
  • Decorations
  • Party Crafts
  • Party Game Fun
  • Costumes
  • Your Cake (no, you don't have to bake it)
  • Special Gifts
  • Creative Party Food

  • Homemade Invitations

Invitations are so important, because they get everyone excited about coming to your child's birthday party.

And homemade invitations are the most fun.

Put together a costume to match your theme and have someone hand deliver your homemade fun.

If your child wants to have a pirate party, have someone dress up like a pirate. Use a colorful bandanna, make an eye patch out of black material or construction paper, get an old shirt and make it look raggedy (have fun), and get some old pants and make them look worn and torn.

Now get some brown paper bags and cut then up into long pieces of paper where you can hand write your invitation. And one big piece of the bag to draw a map.

Choose a place at your party location to hide a treasure (decorate a shoe box and fill it with treats).

Now crumple up the paper and the map to make them look old.

Now make a copy of the map (in case a child doesn't bring their map piece, or someone doesn't show up). Then cut the original into small sections - one for every child you invite.

Now write this for your invitations.

"Aaarrhh! Thar be a fun birthday party brewin fer young Captain (first and last name of birthday child) who's turning (age) years of age."

"And yer invited ta set sail for a high seas adventure birthday party."

Our party ship sails on (day, and date of your party) from the docks at (address of your party location) at (time your party starts)."

"Now hear this says me - any young pirate that wants to can wear a homemade pirate costume."

"And the pirate handin ya this invitation has a very special map you'll be needin."

"X marks the spot fer pirate treasure - but YOU must bring YOUR piece of the map - because we'll be puttin all our map pieces together at the party and followin our map to a pirates treasure!"

Your pirate delivering the invitations will hand then a small piece of brown paper bag with a section of your map on it.

By now the child you're inviting is going to be wide-eyed and very excited.

Supercharge Your Games In 5 Easy Steps

Turn ordinary games into super fun when you Supercharge Your Games with these 5 easy steps.

    Guess How Many

Get a jar and fill it with Jelly Beans or Candy Corn, or M&Ms (be sure to count how many you put in the jar, write down the number and put it someplace where you can find it later).

As each child arrives for the party, have them guess how many and write down their name and their guess.

At the end of the party, look at the guesses - the one who's the closest is the winner.

Make a quick visit to the nearest thrift store and pick up a bunch of socks, big old pants and big shirts.

    Lots-a-socks.

Make up two teams and have the first two players put on as many socks as they can in 60 seconds.

Now count the socks as they take them off. The one wearing the most pairs wins.

Keep playing until everyone gets to play.

The team with the highest score wins.

    Stuff The Balloons

Have two kids each put on a pair of old pants and an old shirt.

Now have each team stuff as many balloons into their team mates clothes as they can in 60 seconds.

Count the balloons as you take them out.

The kid with the most balloons makes their team the winner.
