Fun Homemade Ice Cream Recipe

Everyone loves ice cream

This homemade ice cream recipe is a fun activity for your child's birthday party. Everyone loves ice cream, and making their own is a super fun idea.

Cake and Ice Cream

Yummy cake and ice cream go together at kid birthday parties like shoes and socks, sunshine and flowers, cake and ice cream - OK so there really is nothing that goes together like good old cake and ice cream.

Now imagine how excited your birthday child and all their party guests will be when they discover they're going to get to make their VERY OWN ice cream - Wow.

It's Easy

And it's not going to be messy.

Now we have a winner, so lets learn how with our super fun, no-mess, individual ice cream making activity.

First of all, here's what you'll need:

  • Sugar
  • Milk or Half & Half
  • Vanilla (yummy)
  • Rock salt
  • Ziploc-style plastic bags(one pint size)
  • A one-gallon size Ziploc plastic bag
  • Ice cubes
  • Each child gets

  • a 1 pint Ziploc bag
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of milk or Half & Half

  • Homemade Ice Cream Recipe

Take the large, 1 gallon size Ziploc bag and fill it half full of ice cubes.

Now add the Rock salt and seal the big bag.

    Easy so far?

Now have each child put their milk, vanilla and sugar into their own small Ziploc bag and SEAL IT.

    Now the fun begins

Have the first child place their SEALED Ziploc bag inside the large Ziploc bag and SEAL the large bag.

Now put on some fun music and have the child shake the large bag (with their small bag inside it) for about 5 minutes.

At the end of 5 minutes, the child can stop shaking the bag.

Now open the large bag, remove the small bag, open the small bag and give the child a spoon so they can start eating their ice cream!

You can also scoop the ice cream out of the bag and put it into a bowl.

This recipe is easy, super fun and a wonderful activity for your child's birthday.

    Fun Toppings

You can also have an ice cream topping station set up with chocolate sprinkles, cherries, Orio cookie crumbs, M and M candies or whatever else your child likes.

Each child will have fun creating their own special ice cream dish.

This homemade ice cream recipe is going to make your birthday child and all their guests so happy.

    Have FUN
