Guess How Many?
A great ice breaker for younger and older party goers.
Fill a jar with colorful jelly beans, hard candy, or marbles. Put each child's name on a piece of paper and as each child arrives at your party have them guess how many jelly beans, hard candy or marbles are in the jar...
At the end of the party the child who's guess was closest to the actual number is the winner and gets all the candy in the jar as a prize...
Don't forget to count the candy or marbles as you put them in the jar, and don't put too many in there so they can make an interesting guess... This one is a classic.
Lets Go Fishing
This one is also a great ice breaker.
Put up a partition of some kind. Either a sheet hung from a string or pieces of cardboard. Make the partition high enough so your party guests can't see what's behind the partition.
Then take a broom handle or something to use as a "fishing pole", tie a length of string to the pole and a cloths pin at the other end.
Have each guest cast their fishing line over the partition where an unseen helper will attach a small gift or piece of candy or favor to the clothes pin.
The helper then tugs lightly on the string (like a fish biting) and your party guest "reels" in their line to see what they caught. Everyone's a winner!

The Great Balloon Bounce
This kid party game is great fun without requiring any running around.
Have all the children sit in a circle, then have them use their hands to bounce an inflated balloon from person to person...
The balloon will float around and the kids will have a great time just trying to control where the balloon will travel...
This is also a game that will fit with any birthday party theme. For instance, at a Shark Tale birthday party you can draw a sharks face on the balloon. Have fun creating your own balloon bounce.

Incredible Musical Statues
They'll have lots of fun and they'll even be still for a short while...
Have all your party guests move to the center of the room. Start playing some music related to your theme.
Have your guests start moving and dancing around. Then stop the music and have all the party guests freeze like statues. Anyone who moves is out.
Start the music again and have your party guests start dancing and moving again until the music stops. Have them freeze like a statue again.

Crazy Mixed Up Message Relay
A game idea that will have then laughing!
Have all your guests sit in a circle. Have your birthday child think of a silly phrase or sentence related to your party theme.
Your birthday child whispers the message to the child on their right. That party guest whispers the message to the child on their right until the message goes all the way around to the person sitting just to the left of your birthday child.
That child then repeats the message out loud...
The birthday child then tells everyone the original message. Everyone then gets a turn to come up with their own message.
The more the message gets mixed up, the more fun it is.

Hot potato in reverse!
Before your party, wrap up a small toy or gift or some candy that all the kids will want.
Then wrap it again, then again, then again, and again and again. You can even wrap up boxes within boxes. Anything to make the game go one for a while to build up excitement.
Have all your party guests stand in a circle. Start playing some music related to your parties theme and have the first child unwrap the first layer.
Then the second child unwraps the next layer until one of the guests unwraps the last layer and the gift is revealed. That child wins the gift.
The Amazing Hot Potato
An old favorite with a new twist.
Have the party kids stand in a circle. Start some music related to your birthday party theme.
Each player quickly hands the potato to the player on their right.
After 20 seconds or so, stop the music.
The party guest left holding the potato is out. Start the music again and each player continues passing the potato. Stop the music again.
Repeat this until only two players are left. Start the music again and the two remaining party guests pass the potato back and forth as quickly as possible.
Stop the music one last time. The player left holding the potato is out. The one left in is the winner...
*A Tip From Grandpa Mike
If your birthday party theme is Army or military, you can decorate the potato to look like a bomb or a grenade and play pass the bomb or pass the grenade.
