Make A Castle Birthday Cake - Video

by Jan Clement-May

A Castle cake is perfect for a Princess party, Knights of the Round Table, or a Disney Princess birthday party.

This colorful castle cake is easy to make with these fun step-by-step instructions.

Imagine the smiles when you bring out this very special cake.

Cakes:How To Make A Castle Cake

Step 1:
You will need

* 1 Large filled sponge cake
* 1 Small filled sponge cake
* Buttercream
* Red food coloring
* 9 Chocolate mini rolls
* 9 Ice cream cones
* Wooden skewer
* Chocolate sticks
* Hundreds and thousands
* Chocolate buttons
* Dolly mixtures

Step 2:
Cakes
Spread a small amount of buttercream in the center of the large cake. Stick the smaller cake on top.

Step 3:
Buttercream
Add the red food coloring to the buttercream to make a pretty princess pink, then cover the whole cake in this pink buttercream using a pallette knife.

Step 4:
Towers
Place four chocolate mini-rolls at equal intervals around the base of the large cake, then another four around the smaller cake. Finally place a single mini roll in the centee of the smaller cake, and secure it in place by pushing a wooden skewer down the center.

Step 5:
Spires
Cover the mouth of an ice cream cone in buttercream, then sprinkle it with hundreds and thousands. Repeat for each ice cream cone. Rest each ice cream cone on top of a mini-roll.

Step 6:
Door & windows
Cut five chocolate sticks in half. Take two of these halves and cut the top at an angle. Repeat with another two sticks. Stick these onto the side of the cake to create a door. Press chocolate buttons at regular intervals around the side of the cake for windows.

Step 7:
Decorations
Press a line of sweets around the base of the cake, another around the base of the smaller cake, and another around the top tower. Finish by sticking some fairy models to the board to give the castle some life.
