Scarlett's 9th Birthday Party
by Chris

This year my daughter Scarlett had three birthday celebrations. She enjoyed one at school, one at home and one at good'ol Disneyland.
The one at school was put together by her grandmother. The children enjoyed cookies, chips and juice. Her grandmother also prepared goodie bags for all the children with a McDonald theme.
Her birthday party at home was fun. Scarlett picked Disney's Little Mermaid as her theme. We had Ariel decorations throughout the house. I put together a Disney music CD with various Little Mermaid songs, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast. I also used theme park attraction music and dialog.
We played the CD during her party.
One of her favorite birthday party games is pin the tail on the donkey. We also had great fun playing balloon games.
Dancing was a must because of the great music!
Instead of a big cake, we served Ariel cupcakes which Scarlett thoroughly enjoyed.
She received an Ariel/Princess goodie bag filled with pencils, Ariel toys, and princess jewelry.
Her presents were diverse. She received more Little Mermaid toys and a cell phone which she was begging me for, some very nice clothing, and some new books.
We saved the best for last--a birthday party at Disneyland! When we entered the park she received Disney birthday badge with her name on it. So all day long she was wished a happy birthday by all the park cast members.
Scarlett enjoyed a fun filled day, smiling ear to ear feeling like a celebrity. We went on most the rides and saw many shows and visited with a friend of ours who works in Frontierland at Disneyland playing the fiddle and singing and telling jokes. His name is Farley.
We had a lovely birthday lunch at Disneyland's Cafe Orleans (one of our favorites).
Scarlett was also able to pick and choose the presents that she wanted to buy with her own birthday money she received in her cards.
She picked out a Mickey Mouse ring, cotton candy, and a few other wonderful toys. I also chipped in and help her buy some things.
Towards the end of the day we got a silhouette done together on main street USA. We'll cherish the silhouette for a long time to come.
That about sums up her 9th birthday. It was a lot of work but it was a lot of fun. (Not to mention a lot of walking at good'ol Disneyland!)
Note From Grandpa Mike
Wow!
3 birthdays and one of them at Disneyland...
I bet Scarlett will remember her 9th birthday "parties" for years to come.
Putting together a theme CD is a great idea.
And cupcakes are fun, there's no "cake slicing" involved and they can easily be decorated to match your theme.
Sounds like Scarlett had a fun birthday party.
